Power failure hampers water supply
Owing to prolonged power failure at Dhabeji pumping station of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, the water utility could not supply over seven million gallons water to the city. The power supply at the pump disrupted at 9 pm on Monday and it could not be restored till 7 pm on Tuesday, while the work for the restoration of power supply was in progress by the KESC staff, said a KWSB statement.Various areas of the city including Saddar, Lyari, Jamshed, Liaquatabad towns and Shershah could face water shortage on Wednesday and Thursday. According to a KESC spokesman, work has been in progress on one standby feeder out of 12 dedicated feeders supplying electricity to Dhabeji pumping station. Other 11 feeders have been working normally while there was no issue of electricity shortfall, said the spokesman.
