Kamal inaugurates KESC Grid Station
The City Nazim, Mustafa Kamal has stated that despite there being no role of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) in Karachi Electric Supply Company’s (KESC) affairs, the city government has supported the organisation for the last four years as the organisation itself belongs to the city of Karachi. “Not owning it [KESC] would harm the city”, he said.
“That is why we allowed the KESC road cutting at newly constructed thoroughfares in the larger interest of the citizens. The current planning process would also enable KESC to supply electricity to other parts of the country” he said.
He expressed these views after inaugurating the grid station in Gulshan-e-Maymar constructed by the KESC with a cost of Rs460 million. The City Nazim said that KESC is the most important organization of the city and every citizen should cooperate so that its performance could improve.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Executive of KESC, Tabish Gohar stated that KESC’s administration has invested Rs20 billion in the power generation sector. Five hundred new PMTs are being installed in the city aw well as the construction of new grid stations. These measures would increase the power generation up to 450 Megawatts.
