Leadership conference held at IoBM

Zenith Leadership and Development Conference 2010 was conducted at the Institute of Business Management from January 22 to January 24 under the umbrella of the Strategic Human Resource Society. The objective of Zenith was to develop experience, knowledge-base and skill-sets of participants, and to develop a pool of young professionals through a series of seminars, workshops, activities, classroom-based training sessions, and coaching. The programme focused on academic activities during the day and entertainment-based activities at night. Each day had its own individual theme which was in line with the overall vision of Zenith.Having successfully conducted the first edition last year, Zenith was able to attract a talented pool of students from diverse schools ranging from Bayview, The Lyceum School, Nixor, Southshore as well as renowned universities such as Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Szabist and Iqra University. The theme of the first day was ‘Self Evaluation’, to help facilitate the delegates tap into their strengths and weakness so that they could mould themselves to reach their potential. CEO School of Leadership, Shireen Naqvi spoke about the importance of having an identity. She emphasised the need to break out of societal constraints and drive towards careers that one is passionate about. This was followed by an amusing and insightful session by Sohail Zindani, Chief Learning Officer of LEARNINGMINDS. During the evening, participants were given the opportunity to have the spotlight on them during the Talent Hunt which was followed by a gig. The emphasis on the second day was on ‘Organisational Life’. The purpose was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical life. CEO 180 degrees, Qashif Effendi spoke about the art of persuasion. This was followed by a lecture by Shahbaz Ali Baig in which delegates were taught how to cope and adapt to politics in organisational life. After the sessions, a highly competitive and exhaustive Sports Meet was organised.The third day was dedicated to providing career-related guidance to delegates. A role model session was held in which the delegates got the opportunity to candidly talk with the role models about their life experiences and ask for guidance. The session consisted of eminent personalities including George Fulton, Nushra Ajmal, Yousuf B. Qureshi, and others. The role model session was followed by an amazing session on ‘Emotional Genuis’ conducted by Umair Jaliawala, Chief Turning Officer-Torque followed by a lecture on the advent of social media, conducted by Abid Nasim. The Masquerade Ball and formal dinner wrapped up three, fun-packed and highly educational days at the Zenith 2010.
