Mobile-snatcher gets seven years
Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Sanaullah Ghori sentenced an accused to seven years imprisonment in a robbery case.One Bilal was prosecuted for snatching the cell phone of one Javed Ahmed in the jurisdiction of Ferozabad police station in 2007.The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 and in case of non-payment he would have to undergo additional one month imprisonment.According to the prosecution, three armed men snatched the cell phone and cash from Javed Ahmed on April 6, 2007. However, the victim informed some policemen posted at a nearby traffic kiosk and they challenged the fleeing suspects but they opened fire. The police, however, managed to arrest Bilal after the shootout, while his two accomplices escaped. The snatched cellphone was also recovered from Bilal.Meanwhile, District and Sessions Judge (East) awarded 10 years imprisonment to two accused in a car snatching case.DJ East Sadiq Hussain Bhatti found Abdul Hameed and Ghulam Shabbir guilty of the charges under sections 392 and 412 of PPC and awarded them 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. In case of default the convicts would have to undergo additional one-year imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the accused snatched the car of Zahoor Ahmed at gunpoint in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on August 26, 2009. Later, Mobina Town police arrested Abdul Hameed and Ghulam Shabbir and recovered the snatched vehicle from their possession.
